Connect ChatGPT to FreshlyCited MCP

ChatGPT can add remote MCP servers that use OAuth. Availability depends on your plan and workspace settings, and on some plans an admin has to turn on developer mode first.

Steps

  1. On chatgpt.com (web) open Plugins (Apps) and click +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name: FreshlyCited. Server URL: https://freshlycited.com/mcp.
  3. Authentication: OAuth.
  4. Accept the notice and create it. ChatGPT opens the FreshlyCited consent screen.
  5. Sign in, choose the workspace and access level (Full access or Read-only), and click Allow.
  6. Enable FreshlyCited in a chat and ask: "Check which of these URLs Google can see: …".

Notes

  • ChatGPT registers itself automatically (client metadata document or dynamic registration), so there's no client ID to copy.
  • The connection acts as you in the chosen workspace. Revoke it under API keys › Connected apps in FreshlyCited.
  • Spending tools ask for confirmation above 1,000 credits per call, so ChatGPT will check with you before large pushes.

Check it works

Ask: "Call FreshlyCited's get_started tool." You should see your workspace, role and credit balance. If the client says it can't connect, see Authentication for what each error means.
