Use case

For SEO agencies: get client work indexed sooner and report it

To automate SEO reporting on delivered pages and links, you need a way to ask Google to look at the work and a record of what it saw. FreshlyCited does both: it checks every client URL, pushes only the ones Google can't see, re-checks them later and turns the result into a report your client opens without a login.

AI answers cite what's been crawled, and they lean toward pages that are kept current. FreshlyCited asks Google to crawl the pages, posts and links you've published or updated, then re-checks and shows you which ones Google has indexed: the first step to being eligible for Google Search, AI Overviews and AI Mode. This page covers how an agency uses it, client by client, from the first check to the report.

The invisible-work problem for agencies

The invisible-work problem is simple: your team delivers a page or a link, and Google doesn't look at it for days or weeks. Until it does, the work earns nothing, and the client's monthly report has a gap you can't explain.

You see it in every retainer. A guest post goes live on a site Google visits once a month. A refreshed service page sits on an old crawl. A batch of citations gets built and nobody can say which ones count. Google's own documentation says crawling "can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks," and repeated recrawl requests don't speed it up (Google: Ask Google to recrawl). The client sees invoices, not results, and someone rebuilds a spreadsheet by hand to prove the work exists.

AI answers start with indexed pages: where AEO and GEO work begins

Google's AI answers start with indexed pages. Google's rule is simple: to appear as a link in AI Overviews or AI Mode, a page must be "indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet" (Google Search Central). Indexing is the first step. Being cited still depends on quality, authority and relevance.

That gives agencies an honest way to sell AEO and GEO work. You can't promise a client a ChatGPT citation, and you shouldn't. You can make sure every page and link you deliver has been submitted to Google, and show them, link by link, which ones Google has indexed. If clients are still unclear on the terms, use our guide to explain GEO vs AEO vs SEO to clients. Then show the indexed status underneath it. Being crawled sooner makes a page eligible sooner; whether it's cited is each engine's call, based on quality, authority and relevance. So frame FreshlyCited as the step that makes a page eligible, not as a citation service.

A visibility check tells you, for each URL, whether Google has seen it. Paste or upload up to 10,000 links at a time with any pack or Agency plan (50 on Free); FreshlyCited cleans the list (removing duplicates and malformed URLs) and checks each one for one check credit. A Live check, with the result in seconds, costs 5 check credits.

A push's Links tab in FreshlyCited: every link with its Before and Now status, Seen or Invisible, and whether it was pushed
In FreshlyCited Every link, before and now: Seen by Google or Invisible, and which ones were pushed.

Typical agency uses:

  • Onboarding audit: check a new client's key pages and existing backlinks before you start, so the baseline is on record.
  • Monthly link delivery: check every link built this month before it goes in the report.
  • After a site change: check the pages you migrated, rewrote or consolidated.

Each link comes back as seen by Google, invisible or unknown.

Push only what Google can't see

Smart push checks every link first (one check credit each), sends only the ones Google can't see (or can't confirm), and doesn't send links Google already has, so no index credit is reserved for them.

The workflow in FreshlyCited:

  1. Paste the client's links and choose the client.
  2. Review the pre-flight check. It flags links that can't be indexed (404 or 410 pages, server errors, noindex, robots.txt blocks, redirects, canonicals pointing elsewhere) so you can skip them for free.
  3. Optionally drip-feed the push over 1 to 30 days for large or sensitive lists.
  4. FreshlyCited re-checks each sent link on days 1, 3 and 7 and emails you the result. The re-checks are included.

Indexed or your credit back: each link you send reserves one index credit, and that credit is used only if the link is indexed. If a link still isn't indexed after the day-7 re-check, its credit comes back automatically. Google sets the pace (Google says crawling can take a few days to a few weeks); we re-check on days 1, 3 and 7. The credit-back doesn't cover pages that can't be indexed (dead, erroring, noindex, blocked, redirected, canonicalised elsewhere, removed by you, or spam), which is why the pre-flight check flags them first.

Anything still invisible after the day-7 re-check shows as invisible, so your team knows which pages to look at. The usual cause is the page itself, such as thin content, and fixing it beats another push. Nobody can guarantee Google indexes every link, and FreshlyCited doesn't claim to.

White-label reports clients can open

Any push can be shared as a report link. The client opens it without a login and sees before and after, link by link, ready to print or save as a PDF. You can revoke the link at any time. How much of your brand it carries depends on your plan: on Free, reports are FreshlyCited-branded; Agency Starter adds your logo, still with a "Powered by FreshlyCited" line; Agency Pro removes that line and brands them fully with your logo, colours and sender name; Agency Scale adds a custom domain. Agency plans also include a read-only client portal.

A white-label report sliding out of an envelope toward an open door

This is where the "automate SEO reporting" part becomes real. Instead of exporting a CSV, reformatting it and pasting screenshots, you send one link with the outcome already written, such as "33 of 40 seen by Google (+14)" (illustrative). Our white-label client reports page shows what a report contains, and the SEO client reporting guide covers how to fit indexing status into the rest of your monthly report.

Client workspaces and team roles

Each client gets its own workspace with its own credit balance, pushes and reports. You allocate credits from your agency balance to each client, so spend is easy to trace back to a retainer. Free includes one workspace, Agency Starter 10 client workspaces, and Agency Pro and Agency Scale unlimited.

Automate with the API and MCP server

Everything you can do in the app (pushes, checks, client workspaces and credits) is available over a REST API, and on Agency Pro and Agency Scale over an MCP server too. That means your own tools, or an AI assistant connected over MCP, can run FreshlyCited for you. The full API comes with any pack or Agency plan; Free without a purchase has read-only API access and no MCP.

Common agency automations: push every URL your CMS publishes for a client, check a client's link list on a schedule, or pull report results into your own dashboard. API keys are scoped to a workspace and its clients, so a key made for one client can't touch another.

Plans and credits that scale with your clients

FreshlyCited uses two kinds of credit. An index credit sends one URL for indexing: it's reserved when you submit and used only if the link is indexed. A check credit runs one Standard index check, and a Live check costs 5. The re-checks on days 1, 3 and 7 are included.

Agency plans include index and check credits every month, and annual billing gives you two months free. If you'd rather not subscribe, pay-as-you-go packs are one-off, their credits last 12 months, and they start from $0.16 per indexed link, with index checks from $0.004. See pricing for what each plan and pack includes.

As a rough guide (illustrative), a client with 200 new links a month reserves up to 200 index credits, and only the indexed ones are used; the rest come back after the day-7 re-check. If you pre-check them with smart push, add 200 check credits. A link Google already has isn't sent, so it reserves no index credit.

Start free: the Free plan gives you 10 free links to try once you verify your email, then 100 free checks a month, with no card. Try it on one client first. Check your own links free.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can I manage many clients?

Yes. Each client gets its own workspace, and team roles control who can see and do what. Free includes one workspace, Agency Starter 10 client workspaces, and Agency Pro and Agency Scale unlimited. Solo users never see client complexity until they add a client.

Will my clients see FreshlyCited's name on reports?

It depends on your plan. On Free, reports are FreshlyCited-branded. Agency Starter adds your logo but keeps a "Powered by FreshlyCited" line. Agency Pro removes that line and brands reports fully with your logo, colours and sender name, and Agency Scale adds a custom domain. Every report shows before and after link by link, and you can revoke the link at any time.

What happens to the credit for a link that isn't indexed?

Each link you send reserves one index credit, used only if the link is indexed. FreshlyCited re-checks on days 1, 3 and 7, and if the link still isn't indexed after the day-7 re-check, the credit comes back automatically. Pages that can't be indexed (dead, noindex, blocked, redirected or canonicalised elsewhere) aren't covered, so the pre-flight check flags them before you send.

Does FreshlyCited get my clients cited in AI answers?

It handles the step that comes first for Google: asking Google to crawl the pages and links you deliver and showing which ones it has indexed, which makes them eligible for AI Overviews and AI Mode. Each AI engine chooses its own sources, so nobody can promise a citation, and we don't submit to ChatGPT or Perplexity.
